An ambitious new build contemporary house
Westcott Farm is an ambitious new build contemporary house project located to the west of Chagford in central Devon.
Our client, Henry and Barbara Oakley live adjacent to a collection of picturesque rolling hills with views of Castle Drogo in Drewsteignton.
The brief was to design a low energy passive family house which worked with, and was borne out of its rural context.
Following an enjoyable and extensive design process we proposed a modern, heavily insulated, timber framed building which nestled into the undulating landscape and is characterised by a sloping profiled vaulted roof clad in cedar shingles.
The form takes its inspiration from the context within in which it sits and the timber material resonate with the adjacent woodlands.
The design achieved Passive House accreditation and has been submitted for Planning at the Dartmoor National Park.
